Hong Kong has close trade, economic, cultural and family ties with the United States and Canada. As a result there is sustained interest in Hong Kong and the success of the ‘one country, two systems’ model of governance since Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
In response to invitations from the Asia Society/New York and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, Mrs Anson Chan and Mr Martin Lee are jointly participating in a series of speaking engagements with respected think tanks and associated briefing sessions with the press and community groups. They will visit New York, Washington, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.
This trip was originally planned to take place in November last year, but was postponed due to a sudden bereavement in Mrs Chan’s family.
